Save a life Activity Title: Save a life Organized By: MCWA Activity Date: 11/22/2008 Activity Time: 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM Activity Location: Chinese Community Center (32585 Concord Dr., Madison Heights, MI 48071) It is sad that MCWA ex-president Regine Yang's sister-in-law, Kathryn Li ( who lives in Novi, and is now in Texas to have Leukemia treatments) was diagnosed with Leukemia relapse recently. Per her family, she will have a good chance to recover if she can find a matching bone marrow donor, and get a bone marrow transplant. The family is actively searching for a matching donor. There are two steps to screen the matching donor: (1) via saliva ( can be done by trained volunteer, like Regine) (2) After matching then the American Red Cross will inform you to have a bone marrow draw (can only be done by medical staff). Regine has discussed this issue with the International Bone Marrow Registration, and she just received the volunteer training. The initial swab session will be held at the Chinese Community Center (32585 Concord Dr., Madison Heights, MI 48071) on 11/22/08 from 1 PM to 230PM. Regine will be collecting the swab samples from the volunteers. It will only take a couple of minutes of your time (cotton swab twist in your month for 40 seconds). Please come to volunteer your swab sample and to help our own people. Your action could make a difference and could save a life. --------------------------------------------------------------------- e.
